Afternoon Village,
We've recognised that as a village, we seem to have bene forgotten when it comes to technology and Internet speeds with many of us struggling to get online in a world where we are becoming more dependent on the Internet for work and home life.
In response to this, we're currently investigating options to deploy a wireless internet service into the village and run this service as a local co-operative. We would look to charge competitive rates, and as the service is wireless, there is no need to depend on slower underground and telegraph-based copper lines.
When it comes to speed, there would be a number of options available, but for most you can expect a service of 50mbps which is much more than many of us can currently achieve. In addition, as a non-profit, all of the money that is collected as part of this service will go back into investing in the network with the excess being re-invested back into the village.
We're looking to get an idea of numbers that would be happy to register their interest at this stage, so please could you use this forum to post any question or messages that you would like to share with the team as we look to carry out the full feasibility assessment.
Thanks,
Adam

I'm interested to find out more, thanks Adam.
We would be interested to know more but a bit doubtful of wireless getting into our house as it struggles with the mobiles when our internet is out.
Thanks for this Joan. You’ll be glad to hear that the service operates differently to cellular services, so if your antenna can see one of the others then you’ll be fine as it operates on line-of-sight. A site survey would be conducted in advance of a proposal for each property so we can confirm that you’re able to receive a service.
