More Information and How to Help
The information below shows how you can help our community combat COVID-19, and support the more vulnerable people in the village. Please remember to check the village noticeboard for other information, and we will also update the website as further details are released.
Play Areas and the Recreation Ground (Rec)
The play areas in the Recreation Ground and by Little Sammons have had to be closed due to the risk of coronavirus. This is because coronavirus can remain infectious for some time on the metal and plastic surfaces of the play equipment.
Please respect the signs and tape closing off the area. The area is not being formally inspected. Should you see signs that someone has tampered with the tape or signs, please contact us.
Other than the play equipment, the Recreation Ground will remain open, for those who want to walk or to run on the track. If you do, please respect the social distancing rules at all times.
Parish Council Meetings
Scheduled meetings of the Parish Council have been cancelled, on advice from local government. The advice is being kept under review, and normal Parish Council activities such as planning application review, will continue.
However, if there is any matter that you would like the Parish Council to deal with, then please post the details on the Village Forum.
STAY AT HOME,
The current government advice is for everyone to stay at home and limit their contact with others. This means only going outside for food, health reasons or essential work. If you must go outside you should stay 2 metres away from other people and wash your hands in warm, soapy water as soon as you get home.
These measures will help to stop the spread of infection and give our NHS the best chance to cope with the additional demand generated by COVID-19. There are lots of things you can do to stay happy, healthy and safe while at home and you will find some ideas on how to do that on the Healthy Somerset webpages.
It is completely normal for people to feel overwhelmed and vulnerable as we read the news about the COVID-19 outbreak and experience big changes to our day to day lives. Mindline are offering an emotional support telephone service for people who would find it helpful to talk. They are available Monday to Friday, from 9am to 11pm, and 8pm to 11pm at the weekend on 01823 276892.
CALL FOR CARERS
Somerset’s local authorities are calling for care workers to come forward and play a vital role in tackling Coronavirus pressures.

SSDC has set up a webpage which will try and answer some of the frequently asked questions about the planning function during this time, and set out some of the necessary changes SSDC is making to processes. Further updates and briefings will appear over the coming weeks.
SSDC RECYCLING AND BIN COLLECTION
SSDC has closed its recycling centres and has temporarily suspended its Green Bin collections. Normal waste and recycling bin collections are so far unchanged.
DISPOSAL OF CONTAMINATED CORONAVIRUS WASTE
If you or anyone in your household has symptoms of Coronavirus, please refer to this guidance on how to take special precautions with your waste.
CYBER SECURITY ADVICE
Please follow the links below for advice concerning ransomware, phishing, working from home and online fraud. These are the most prevalent attacks that the UK police forces are seeing right now due to the Coronavirus Pandemic.
